Hulk goes COSMIC in Marvel's Infinity

I couldn't be happier knowing Hulk is going to be involved in this Mega Crossover Event. Being a Avenger has some perks for Hulk fans. With Thor, Hyperion and Hulk in your corner, you wonder what could give the Avengers a challenge. In walks Thanos and his five lieutenants. Tim Brevoort in a interview stated Thanos's lieutenants are in Silver Surfer's league on the power scale. That is scary and a humbling notion all at once. I hate to say it but Marvel is making it clear Thanos is above Thor, Hyperion and Hulk in the Marvel pecking order of all around power. It doesn't bother me one bit.. a lot of comic fans believe Thanos is right under Sky Father levels and above Herald level.

"Thanos is going to have five different subordinates within "Infinity" proper...We'll see them, learn them, get to see them in action and then they'll be on the stage where thereafter they can be characters that go up against our heroes -- particularly our heroes that are on the higher end of the scale, power-wise. These are galactic villains, so they're not necessarily guys that are going to be punching Daredevil in the streets of Manhattan. Thanos's most trusted lieutenant Corvus Glaive has debut in FCBD in Infinity. He was bad ass and a guy to be taken serious. As a Hulk die hard fan I cross my fingers and pray Hulk tangles with one or all of Thanos's lieutenants. I just want to see Hulk hold his own in the cosmic universe on panel. I know he can and he has..but there are a lot of haters who think he can't. Hulk is a powerhouse brick..I expect him to rush head first trying to smash one or all of Thanos's lieutenants. This should be a fun ride for Hulk and comic fans alike. From what I gathered Avengers 18 man roster will have there hands full against these five Lieutenants of Thanos. 2013 Year of the Super Powers

Usually I see comic book movies on the midnight release. For some reason Iron Man 3 didn't give me that 90's tingly feeling to go out and lose sleep to watch right away. Part of that is due that Mark Ruffalo wasn't green lit for a Incredible Hulk 2. With Man of Steel and World War Z on the horizon..I let Iron Man 3 slip another week back. I have been hearing mix reviews..some say its better then Iron Man 2..some say its the worse out of the trilogy. Phase 2 of Marvel Cinematic movies are in high gear. With Thor 2 releasing end of this year and Captain America and GOTG coming in 2014..I am running on financial fumes with all these movies coming out. But out of all the comic book movies to be release on big screen..Amazing Spider-man2 has my curiousity  but Man of Steel has my attention.(Django reference).DC just lets there movie counterparts live up to there comic book hype. Marvel has seem to cap their powerhouses down a bit. We all know Thor and Hulk are extremely more powerful in the comics then shown on big screen. Ang Lee's Hulk showed to be the strongest of them yet..but thats not under the Marvel Studio banner. Hopefully Marvel Phase 2 isn't a bust.

Deviants, Attuma and Hulk: A Shared World

It wasn't by chance that I was reading Thor: Deviants #1-4 and Lemuria came up. First thing that popped in my head was.."hold on, is this the same Lemuria Hulk and Attuma's forces clashed at?" After digging around the internet for a bit. I discovered Lemuria was the home to the Deviant race before it sanked to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.

"Eventually, the Deviants took control of Lemuria. Queen Zartra fled to Atlantis to marry its monarch, Kammuu. She was slain shortly before the Great Cataclysm that sunk Lemuria, caused by the Celestials' bombing of Earth." http://marvel.wikia.com/Lemuria_%28Deviant%29

When reading Indestructible Hulk #4 Attuma knew who Hulk was. Scouring around I found out Namor and Hulk teamed up against Attuma before. Here is a lil tidbit from Marvel Wiki

"Later, Attuma's ship recovered the monstrous Hulk who was found dying in the ocean. Hulk was given a serum that allowed him to survive underwater, and he escaped, but not before Attuma's scientist learned to replicate Hulk's gamma ray-induced superhuman powers. After testing it on his assistant Vashti, Attuma was given Hulk-like powers and he began a rampage through Atlantis. Attuma was confronted by both Namor and the Hulk and defeated, leading to Namor reclaiming his throne shortly afterward."

Also while reading this..it is so obvious Waid stole alot of his storyline from Hulk and Attuma's past encounter. It is okay to build on someone else hard work if you are adding value to it. The saying is true "There is no idea new under the sun". What Waid did do was have Attuma find and exploit Lemuria for its Alchemy. And find a way for Hulk to interact with Attuma again. I applaud Mark Waid for doing that. Just it would be nice if he builds his own lane when writing Hulk next time. Attuma thus far written by Mark Waid is a excellent adversary for Hulk.

"The Second Host of the Celestials arrived on Earth circa 16,000 BCE. The Deviants, in the middle of another assault on Atlantis, attacked the Celestial ship. In retaliation, the Celestials bombed Lemuria. At the same time, the Atlanteans opened their magma vents to drive off the Deviants. The bomb destroyed Lemuria, and the shock waves from it, combined with the open vents, sank Atlantis. This Great Cataclysm reshaped the Earth's surface. ^[2]"

 So many doors are now open for Banner and Hulk. Working with S.H.E.I.L.D. gives a writer some wiggle room to give Hulk a plausible reason to be in the situation he is in. If Hulk is in outer space or time traveling..it doesn't seem to out of place. There lies Pak's problem..not enough background story and transition to the next arc. Hopefully Mark Waid revisits Lemuria with Hulk in one form or the other. Trying to stay optimistic about a Deviant and Hulk story. Waid has laid some ground work for this to happen. Will he capitalize on it is a another question. Alchemy and Magic mixed with the write Hulk story is a win/win. I know lots of Hulk fans want to see Hulk go cosmic for a bit. Lemuria has so much rich history tied to it(now including Hulk) There is no reason why Celestials can't be mentioned in a Hulk comic. Doesn't mean he has to fight them..he would lose..but knowing Hulk is lurking around the unexplainable puts a smile on my face. Hopefully Year Two of Indestructible Hulk we see more Cosmic and magical elements play out in Waid's run.

Kang The Conqueror coming soon to Indestructible Hulk?

Indestructible Hulk #11 kicks off with a time traveling adventure called Time To Smash Pt.1. Mark Waid has already stated Kang The Conqueror would rear his ulgy head in a issue of Hulk. He also stated there is a big baddie at the end of year one of Hulk. All I am doing is just trying to piece the puzzle together. Kang and time traveling go together like bikes and inner tubes. My fingers are crossed that this is going to be more then a two issue arc. Waid's best work thus far has only been a two issue arc feating Attuma in Indestructible Hulk #4-5. I was praying it was going to be a three to four issue arc. There was so much to explore in Lemuria..two issues seemed rushed. But on the other hand it does leave room open for another time for Lemuria, Attuma and Hulk to meet again. With that said will Mark rush this Time To Smash in to two issues or will he give us a classic Hulk arc featuring the villain Kang The Conqueror? Time will reveal.
