Infinity is almost here. If you are a long time Hulk fan. Then you will know Hulk has been in everything named Infinity when it comes to Marvel. From Infinity Crusade to The Infinity Gauntlet. So it is no surprise Holku is making a major splash in Marvel Now Infinity. Half of me is very excited to see my Jade Giant streaking across solar systems in all his gamma might to face Thanos and The Black Order. The other half of me is skeptical that Hickman will short change Hulk in the feats department. To give room to his new pet Hyperion. Readers of Hickman's Avengers pick up on the not so subtle favoritism of Hyperion on this series. Don't get me wrong. Hickman hasn't shown any disrespect to Hulk's power-set. And he writes a mean Bruce Banner. It is fifty fifty on who writes a better Banner out of Hickman and Waid.
But when it is all said and done. I believe Hulk is in good hands with Hickman's Avengers run. As of June 30, 2013 I do not know if Indestructible Hulk has any plans for tie-ins to Infinity. Time will reveal. With that said, there is a good chance there will be a tie-in. There is a Age of Ultron tie-in coming. And Marvel seems content on keeping Hulk in the limelight. A lot of us where not happy that Hulk missed Marvel's Civil War, Secret Invasion and The Siege. When Hulk was mentioned as one of the Worthy I was pumped. Then Matt Fraction happened. He didn't have a clear picture on how to use a amped up Hulk on panel. He did a great job in interviews describing Nul/Hulk' power...but a piss poor job on delivering it. I am not mad at him, just left wanting more out of Nul. Love the concept and do believe he was in amp mode..just little on panel proof.
I won't be buying every Infinity tie-in. Just the core mini, Avengers, The Mighty Avengers and Indestructible Hulk(if there is one). If Hulk makes a Guardians of The Galaxy cameo..I most likely will pick up the issue. So refreshing seeing Banner using his big brain. Just wish he was part of the New Avengers cast also.

I love Hickman's new Hyperion/Marcus Milton. He's like Superman, only cooler and isn't afraid to do some damage/kill when its necessary. Besides, I don't think Hickman is going to let Hyperion outshine Hulk. After all, when asked who was strongest and the most physically superior/powerful out of all the Avengers, Hickman still stated that Hulk was indeed the Strongest There is. And that's saying a lot to someone like Hyperion who held back two Earths and survived the destruction of two universes during that incursion event. And don't forget, Hulk did what neither Thor or Hyperion could: Temporarily KO'ed the Starbrand Avatar, who is (once I did some research on the character from Jim Shooter's original series) infinitely powerful (I'm talking capable of challenging Galactus or a few Celestials by himself powerful).
ReplyDeleteStill, you gotta love the team-up of Hulk, Hyperion and Thor. Earth's three most powerful heroes, each without equal in their own unique way.
The Hulk: Gamma Power- Physically the Most Powerful/Strongest there is and is indestructible as he is unstoppable.
Hyperion: Solar Power- An Eternal with all the powers of Superman and is as tough/formidable as either Hulk or Thor.
Thor: Mystical Power- Wields a powerful weapon and is just as tough as Hulk or Hyperion.
And you're right. Hickman writes an excellent Banner. His version may be better than Waid's. Did you get the nod to 'Planet Hulk' in Avengers #14? That was subtle and awesome. Why can't Mark Waid give us stuff like that?! It's not like it's difficult or impossible to write!
And I'm also wondering if we'll get any tie-ins for 'Infinity'. It would be great, if handled right. I mean, Hulk is in space with the Avengers. He's free to cut loose, which needs to happen.
Yeah, Matt Fraction's idea and concept of Nul-Hulk was good, but the execution and handling of it was very, very poor. As was everything else written by him in Fear Itself. He should never be allowed to write powerful characters or event storylines. They need to keep him on those street level characters like Hawkeye and nothing more.
Anyways, be sure to pick up 'New Avengers' because Thanos' five generals will play big roles in that comic as well. Now that I think about it, I wonder if Banner does or doesn't know about the latest Illuminati. Would be interesting if he's been keeping a record of those incursion events, if only to threaten/blackmail/assist them if he's needed.
And it would be cool if Hulk grabs Gladiator off of his throne and gives him a good smashing, if only to knock down the Shi'ar Ruler's ego down a peg or ten.
I haven't read Avengers #14 yet. I am behind I believe I only have up to issue #13. But that is great news to hear Hickman give a head nod to planet Hulk. Hickman seems to listen and understand fans more then Waid. I am not a big Hyperion fan..not this one. Too goody goody for me. I love King Hyperion the one Blue Marvel smashed. I am wondering if Hulk could of survived that incursion like Hyperion. I forgot Hickman made that statement Hulk is the Strongest There Is. I am so pissed at Waid that Hulk is not saying his catch phrase. We get a "Hulk Worthy" but no "Hulk Strongest there is"?.

The Halls of Hulk weren't the same without you man. You were missed. Your blog looks sweet brother. You did a fantastic job with it.
